Sectoral Human Capital Survey

INDUSTRY STUDIES UNDER THE "HUMAN CAPITAL BALANCE PROJECT"

Implementation of industry research under the PARP project entitled "Human Capital Survey" will make it possible to identify the key competencies currently sought by employers in the financial sector on the labour market and in the future, define the type and level of competences obtained in the course of formal education and assess competency matching (survey of competency supply and demand) in the financial sector.

Studying the demand side (entrepreneurs) will make it possible to obtain information about which positions the employers value the most.  In addition, it will make it possible to assess the difficulty of finding suitable candidates for the above-mentioned positions, as well as the associated competencies and their level required for particular positions.

It is also important to obtain an answer to the question whether the importance of competencies deemed to have significance for entrepreneurs in the industry at present will increase, decrease or remain unchanged in the future (anticipating demand for competencies).

It is proposed that the following products should be developed for the industry s needs:

  • a list of primary professions, job positions related to the industry,
  • a simplified map of business processes,
  • a list of the most important positions,
  • position profiles (job title, implemented tasks, competency requirements along with
    expected levels).
  • a catalogue of industry competencies and corresponding learning outcomes.

By researching the supply side (majors, profiles, education programmes), it will be possible to analyse at what level the obtained learning outcomes related to the competencies sought by employers in selected majors/specialisations run by universities and other training entities are obtained.

The industry research will be summarised in a final research report including:

  • an analysis of demand for competencies (summary lists and comparisons, including the validity of competencies at present and an assessment of validity dynamics in the future, difficulty in obtaining competencies, competency profiles of individual positions seen through the eyes of employers)
  • an analysis of competency supply (summary lists and comparisons; currently acquired learning outcomes and an outline of the future perspective)
  • balance of competencies in the industry (summary lists and comparisons, including the difficulty of acquiring competencies vs acquired learning outcomes, best matching majors/profiles),
  • conclusions and recommendations of activities eliminating the scale of competency adjustment in the industry.

The role of the Sectoral Council for Competencies in the industry research includes, among others:

  1. research regarding information needs;
  2. participation in research (expert panels, interviews) - indicating participants, motivating to participation, participation;
  3. participation in meetings/ summarising workshops, developing solutions.
